Ball lightening: mysterious yet weaponisable?

David Hambling of Wired Science blog reports an interesting research endeavour to use the mysterious phenomenon of ball lightening as a weapon. Artificially produced electromagnetic “bullet” similar to a ball lightening can be ideal anti-missile weapon, generating an intense electromagnetic pulse on impact which would scramble the guidance system and any electronics, as well as causing thermal damage.
